THE UPWARD WAY

I’m going on the upward way
On earth I cannot stay
The departure for the journey
Is nearing every day
God will take my breath
I’ll close my eyes in death
Then I shall fly away
On the upward way

Chorus

On the upward way
My flight can not delay
I’m ready for the journey any day
I don’t want to stay
When His voice will say
Come now with me on the upward way

I may not need to wear grave shrouds
For He could break the clouds
The departure for the journey
Is when He calls aloud
I shall rise above
Up to the one I love
For He shall call that day
Come the upward way

Chorus

On the upward way
My flight can not delay
I’m ready for the journey any day
I don’t want to stay
When His voice will say
Come now with me on the upward way

Raptured or death it matters not
My soul has been blood bought
Both ways will be an upward way
For me a Saviour sought
O my heart it sings
I hear the angel wings
Could this be now the day
For the upward way

Chorus

On the upward way
My flight can not delay
I’m ready for the journey any day
I don’t want to stay
When His voice will say
Come now with me on the upward way

MY GLEN

Take me back once again
To my beloved Irish glen
Where fading eyes may look
On verdant meadow and babbling brook

Let their beauty fill my eyes
Before breath in aching body dies
Then I never more shall see
The place that means so much to me

When in days of wondering childhood
Beside a sparkling stream I stood
Watched its waters running by
Listening to a curlew cry

Wildflowers in a meadow crept
Tossed leaves of trees, heads windswept
Hills standing still in distant view
In the haze of sun appearing blue

Most contentment I knew was when
I walked in my beloved glen
But no more I shall it roam
For God is gently calling me home

Some day now I shall depart
When death’s chill hand stills my heart
But I know a fairer land above
Outshines this glen that I love

When my body lies in this glen
My soul it shall see heaven then
Where more beauty shall be seen
Than my glen of emerald green

My road has reached its final bend
To a fairer land I shall ascend
But I cannot journey to the golden shore
Until my body rests in my glen once more

THE BROKEN HEART

My heart is broken just once more
Tears are falling like leaves off a tree
All the pain I feel I have known before
The aching inside is nothing new to me

 Chorus

O the lonely heart the hurting heart
The heart that is filled with pain
Broken pieces Lord, gather them up
And help to mend it again

Sweet and tender Lord is your love
That overflows in your heart for me
That you were so willing to come from above
To die for my heart and soul on that cruel tree

 Chorus

O the lonely heart the hurting heart
The heart that is filled with pain
Broken pieces Lord, gather them up
And help to mend it again

My heart belongs Lord just to you
You dwell in its joy, also its pain
Each time its broken Lord I know what you do
You pick up the pieces and mends it again

 Chorus

O the lonely heart the hurting heart
The heart that is filled with pain
Broken pieces Lord, gather them up
And help to mend it again

SHINE

Let the sun shine at day
The moon shine at night
The myriad stars of heaven
Let them all shine bright
Let them shine on this world
Giving off their light

God set them in the heavens
To lighten night or day
How deep would be the darkness
If they should fade away
God sent His own Son
To be a spiritual light
But they crucified Him on a cross
When the day became as night

But He give His light to others
Who give their hearts to Him
He calls for us to shine
And not our lights to dim
So shine in the daytime
Shine at night as well
Shine the light of warning
To those who tramp to hell
