A BRUISED REED

Bruised but not broken
Bent but not down
Abused with words spoken
In despair I could drown
In the torrent of the tide
Of the abuse that I get
But Jesus is by my side
And I am not finished yet

Chorus

The raging of the sea He calms it for me
The fury of the wind to Him it takes heed
They obey His command then He helps me to stand
Upright again His precious bruised reed

Bruised but not broken
Bent but in prayer
Infused with words spoken
By Jesus who is there
He enfolds me to His breast
Gives me strength that I need
While the foaming white crest
Sweeps over His bruised reed

Chorus

The raging of the sea He calms it for me
The fury of the wind to Him it takes heed
They obey His command then He helps me to stand
Upright again His precious bruised reed

Bruised but not broken
Bent but to adore
Enthused with the token
Of His love evermore
He will never leave my side
While waves on frenzy feed
His commanding voice will chide
Cease bending my bruised reed

Chorus

The raging of the sea He calms it for me
The fury of the wind to Him it takes heed
They obey His command then He helps me to stand
Upright again His precious bruised reed
