WHO IS THIS MAN

Who is this man of Galilee?
Who claimed He was the Son of God
I saw Him calm the raging sea
But still I thought He was a fraud

I followed Him afar off
Just to watch His every move
I did not believe His words of love
Just His deceit I wanted to prove

Yet I am saw Him heal the blind
The dumb of speech and the lame
But doubts of Him filled my mind
And I did not believe in His holy name

I joined in with the baying crowd
As He stood before the governor Pilate
Crucify Him; I cried aloud
My wicked heart full of hate

But I saw Him stand there so meek
As they crowned His head with thorn
And my spittle ran down His cheek
As I mocked Him there with scorn

I watched Him hang on the cross of wood
His pain and agony I could see
But I still had not understood
He was dying there for a sinner like me

I saw the empty grave where He had lay
Yet I still did not believe
I heard His disciples had carried Him away
And just were out to deceive

Then I saw Him in the garden
As with Mary He quietly talked
Yet I asked not for His pardon
Though now I no longer mocked

I stood with the disciples there
And in my heart I really knew
As Jesus ascended in the air
He was the Son of God who disappeared from view

Blessed are they though having not seen
Put their trust in Him as God did plan
And He sinful souls will redeem
For it is Jesus our Saviour who is this Man
